Redfoots style is a traditional style of footwork
FOOTWORK meaning steps and nothing else!

no legwork(eurostyle) or threads

some OG Bronx heads would think Bboy Storm is not doing footwork
if you do a body glide your out
if you do a back rock your out
if you do a footwork trick your out
if you do a thread your out

so it gets really detailed what FOOTWORK is!

the best footwork competition i went to was this one called 2 man Platoon
1st round you have to do steps

(basic footwork i like to call the traditional 70s beaver,spy,crazy commandos Bronx style)
2nd and 3rd you go off with whatever style

whats dope about that is that you understand the different styles and at will can do them
and at the same time know if the judge only counts this or that as footwork
thats important to know

1. What i call the Bronx style

All steps
no pretzels,no undersweeps(aka dead legs for the toronto heads)
no sitting on your butt no threads
its like a quick freeze style
the best people who do this style right now is Bboy Wicket,Ken Swift,Crazy Leggs,EZ Rock
best moves to describe the feeling kick out outs,cc,hooks or switches,cofee grind sweeps

2. What as known as Euro Flow made popular by Bboy Storm
but created by Karim from correct me if im wrong Actual Force
very circular underswipes,body glides,pretzels

(or illusion sweeps because you dont jump with this movement,reverse sweep combos)
the feeling is more flow than steps or quick freeze style
best people who do this style Storm,SwiftRock,2nd to None from England,Evo
not saying they didnt do this in the Bronx but really made famous in Europe

3. I like to call the Toronto style of threads
no disrepect to Sweden i know Bboy Elvis was killin it in the early 90s

From Ken Swifts perspective this style was actually influnced by

house dancin and Kid n Play jumpin through the whole you created by grabbin your foot
guys like Gizmo Bag of Tricks, and of course Lego from Supernaturals
made famous by Megas and Dyzee
Megas had his oragami style while Dyzee made yup a formula of the Suoernatural style
like i said im sure inthe Bronx they did it Mr. Wiggles said they called it Spiderman footwork
but made popular by the bboys from Toronto Canada

the 3 major footwork styles

a good sample is Keebz from Mind 180/Squadron
a combination of all the above

ATN is a good representation of the Bronx style and a bit of the Euro style
mostly steps and patterns!

So all in all this is what i gathered and what i see
For some it is all footwork
for others the Bronx Style is the only true footwork
I say its all good
just know your judges and see what they are looking for

Legwork(유럽스타일)이나 threads는 아니다!
몇몇 O.G들은 Storm은 풋웤을 하는게 아니라고 생각을 할 것이다.
Body glide를 하면 아니고
Back Rock을 해도 아니고
풋웤 트릭들을 해도 아니고
Thread를 해도 풋워크가 아니다.

그래서 FootWork이란 건 정말 세심하게 들어가야 한다!
가장 인상깊었던 풋웤 배틀은 2 man Platoon이라는 대회였는데 첫번째 라운드에는 스텝만 해야한다
( 기본적인 풋웤들-70년대의 Beaver, Spy, Crazy Commandos Bronx Style의 풋웤)
두번째와 세번째 라운드에는 하고 싶은대로 해도 되는 것 이다.

여기서 중요한건 여러 스타일의 의미를 이해하고 있고 필요할때마다
다른 스타일을 보여줄 수 있다는 것이다.

그리고 심사위원들이 어떤 것을 풋워크라고 인정하는지에 대해서도 알수 있다.

현대 풋워크에 가장 영향을 준 세가지 풋워크 스타일

1.Bronx Style이라고 부르는 스타일
모든 스탭들, pretzels 말고 undersweep도 말고( 또한 dead legs라 불리는 토론토 스타일)
이런 스타일을 가장 잘하는 사람들은 BBoy Wicket, Ken Swift, Crazy Leggs, Ez Rock이다.
이런 스타일의 느낌을 가장 잘 설명해줄 수 있는 동작들은 Kick Outs, CC, Hooks
아니면 Switches, Coffee Grind Sweeps 이다.

2.Euro Flow 라고 불리는, Bboy Storm으로 인하여 유명해 졌지만
내가 알기로는 프랑스 Actual Force의 Karim이 만든 스타일 이다.
Underswipes를 원형으로 하는, Body Glides, Pretzels
(또한 illusion sweeps, 왜냐하면 reverse sweep combo를 점프를 하지 않으면서 하기 때문에)
느낌적으로는 스텝이나 빠른 프리즈가 아닌 flow이다.
이 스타일을 가장 잘 내는 Bboy들은 Storm, Swift Rock, 영국의 Second to None의 Evo이다.
이 스타일을 Bronx에서 안했다기 보다는 Europe에서 유명했고 중점으로 뒀기 때문이다.

3.Toronto Style 의 Threads.
Sweden에 대한 실례를 하는게 아니다, 90년대 초반에 BBoy Elvis가
이 스타일을 정말 느낌을 잘 냈다는 것을 알기 때문이다.
Ken Swift의 관점으로 본 이 스타일은 House 댄스와 Kid n Play 라는 다리를 잡고
그 사이로 다른 다리를 빼는 것에 영향을 받았다고 한다.
Bag of Tricks의 Gizmo, 그리고 Supernaturals의 Lego가 잘 하고
Megas 와 Dyzee덕분에 유명해진 스타일이다.

Megas는 자신만의 Orgami Style을 만들어 냈고
Dyzee는 Supernaturals의 스타일을 체계화시켰다.

내가 말 했듯이, Bronx에서도 했었고 Mr. Wiggles는
그 스타일을 Spiderman Footwork라 불렀다고 한다.
하지만 Canada의 Toronto Bboy들로 인하여 유명해졌다고 한다.

위에 설명한 스타일들을 모두 총집합한것이라 보면 된다.

ATN은 Bronx style과 약간의 Euro style을 잘 섞어 놓았다.
주로 스탭들과 패턴 적인 면이다
